1. Who We Are

UK Wineries Directory (ukwineries.co.uk) is an informational directory listing vineyards and wineries across the United Kingdom. We are operated by getonweb.co.uk.

2. Information We Collect

We collect minimal information. Specifically:

• Contact form submissions: If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message content solely to respond to your enquiry.
• Server logs: Like all websites, our server automatically records standard access log data (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps). These logs are used for security and technical troubleshooting only.
• Analytics: If you consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. See section 4 and the Cookies section below for details.

3. How We Use Your Information

Information submitted via the contact form is used only to respond to your enquiry. We do not store contact form submissions in a database — they are delivered directly to our team by email.

Analytics data is used only to produce aggregate reports on site usage (which pages are popular, where visitors come from, approximate geographic region). It is never used to identify individual users or shared with third parties for advertising.

4. Third-Party Services

This site uses the following third-party services which may set their own cookies or collect data:

• Google Analytics 4 — website analytics. Only loaded after you accept the analytics category in our cookie banner. Runs with IP anonymisation. No advertising features are enabled. See Google's privacy policy.
• Google Fonts — to load typefaces. Google may log requests to their font servers.
• OpenStreetMap / Leaflet — for vineyard location maps. OpenStreetMap tile servers receive your IP address when maps are loaded.
• postcodes.io — to look up coordinates from UK postcodes for map display (anonymous lookup; no personal data sent).

5. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use a strictly-necessary cookie to remember your cookie-preference choice, and (with your consent) Google Analytics sets its own cookies as described below. You can change your choices at any time via the Manage cookies link in the footer.

If you reject analytics, Google Analytics is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set — Google still receives a single cookieless ping for aggregated, privacy-safe traffic counts.

6. Vineyard & Winery Data

The directory listings on this site consist of publicly available information about vineyards and wineries. We do not hold personal data about individuals within those businesses. If you are a vineyard or winery owner and wish to update or remove your listing, please contact us.

7. Data Retention

Server logs are retained for up to 30 days. Contact form enquiries are retained in our email inbox for as long as necessary to resolve the enquiry. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, then auto-deleted (Google's default for new GA4 properties).

8. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, please contact us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes that affect how we use cookies will be communicated by re-prompting the cookie banner.
