Brenley Vineyard: A Historic Kent Farm with Vineyards, Weddings and Countryside Events

Brenley Vineyard, more widely known by its historic farm name Brenley Farm, is a working agricultural estate on the edge of Faversham in Kent where vines, apples, pears and hops have all been cultivated over a span of more than two centuries. Run by the Berry family since the 1800s, the farm blends innovative modern viticulture with a deep-rooted respect for the surrounding landscape, and has grown into one of the most distinctive small event and wine destinations in the North Kent countryside.

A Historic Kent Farm with Vineyards

Brenley is unique among English vineyards because of the rare architectural fabric that surrounds the working land. Many of the buildings around the house and farm are Listed Grade II and of considerable architectural and historical interest. The protected estate includes the walls around the house and vegetable garden, a medieval thatched granary, a medieval tithe barn, and the fine Georgian stable building that gives the property much of its character.

The Berry family have farmed here continuously since the 1800s. Today, the diverse landscape still includes apples, pears, hops and, of course, the vineyards that produce Brenley Wine. The family's philosophy is rooted in sustainability and a long view of the land: you cannot farm as long as they have without looking after the environment around you. Living and working on the farm gives the team an intimate understanding of these particular soils and microclimate, which translates into a consistently high-quality product from vine to bottle.

The Setting

Brenley Farm is set on Brenley Lane in Boughton, on the edge of Faversham - one of Kent's most historic market towns and long associated with hop growing and brewing. The combination of historic buildings, open fields and proximity to the Kent countryside gives the farm a quiet, layered atmosphere that has made it a sought-after location for both leisure visitors and private celebrations.

What Brenley Wine Offers

Brenley's viticulture is focused on producing exceptional-quality grapes with care and attention at every stage, from pruning through to harvest. The wines themselves are sold under the Brenley Wine brand, which operates a separate dedicated shop. Brenley Wine showcases the Berry family's passion for winemaking and the care that goes into growing the grapes.

Vineyard Tours and Wine Tastings

Guided vineyard tours and tastings are part of the farm's broader offering, bringing visitors out into the vines to learn about the English wine-making process in this corner of Kent. The most prominent upcoming tasting event is Halowine at Brenley, a Halloween-themed guided tour of the Brenley Wine portfolio, promising "spooktacular times and spectacular wines". Tickets and full details are available via the Brenley Wine tours and tastings.

The Grain Store: A Countryside Venue for Hire

Weddings at Brenley

Brenley Farm is also a popular wedding venue, set in the grounds of the farm's Georgian Farmhouse with capacity for up to 150 guests. The team offers flexible, bespoke wedding packages tailored to the needs of each couple, with the ability to take over the farm for the full weekend if desired.

The Ceremony

Couples can marry next to the farmhouse duck pond underneath a beautiful pagoda adorned with flowers of their choice. If the weather is not favourable, the ceremony can be moved into the Grain Store, which has a maximum capacity of 80 guests for ceremonies.

The Marquee

Wedding parties can choose between a Stretch Tent or a traditional marquee, or any other structure they prefer, as the space is theirs to design. The marquee or Stretch Tent is located opposite the Grain Store on the farm, giving complete freedom over the layout and decoration.

Catering

A catering tent adjoins the main marquee, and couples may choose their own caterers or select from a list of recommended suppliers.

Accommodation and Travel

The farm is just a 10-minute taxi to Faversham station, making it easy to reach by train. For guests wishing to stay on site, Brenley offers a quirky 24-bed Bunk Barn - a popular option for weekend-long celebrations.

What Couples Say

Couples who have married at Brenley often speak warmly of the venue. Ruth summed up the appeal by saying: "We couldn't have wished for a better venue than Brenley Farm for our wedding. When planning our wedding we were adamant about having a venue we could relax into over a weekend with our friends and family and one where we had full creative license. The venue works perfectly for those wanting to have a big celebration spread out over the weekend." Amelia agreed: "Our wedding day was all we've ever dreamed of and more. Every guest admired and complemented Brenley and the relaxed vibe we wanted was carried through to all of them. This really was thanks to the way that Jules runs the venue."

What's On: Events and Experiences

Beyond weddings and private venue hire, the farm runs a seasonal programme of countryside experiences. The current programme blends wine-focused events with creative and wellness-led experiences, including guided vineyard tours, wine tastings, supper clubs, workshops and yoga retreats.
