The History of Carden Park Vineyard
The vineyard at Carden Park traces its roots to 1988, when the original plantings of Seyval Blanc and Pinot Noir were laid down across the estate's south-facing slopes. After a period where the vines fell into neglect, the estate embarked on a major restoration project in 2008, when 4,000 vines were reinstated across the three-acre site. Much care was taken to grow them back to their former glory, and the team at Carden Park worked closely with neighbouring farms and specialist viticulturists to nurse the varieties into a productive, modern English vineyard.
Today the vineyard is a defining feature of the broader Carden Park Hotel resort and acts as the inspiration for the estate's flagship fine dining restaurant, The Vines, which opened its doors in 2021 and inherited the vineyard's name. Grape Varieties and Viticulture

The flagship release is the Carden Park Estate Reserve Sparkling Wine, an English méthode-traditionnelle sparkling wine made from the Seyval Blanc and Pinot Noir grown on the estate. The 2024 release took home a coveted Silver medal at the Independent English Wine Awards, cementing Carden Park's reputation as one of the North West's most exciting boutique producers.

Inspired by the vineyard that surrounds it, The Vines at Carden Park is the estate's 3 AA Rosette-awarded fine dining restaurant. The à la carte menu opens with starters such as Stuffed Courgette Flower (£19), Lobster Ravioli (£24), Severn and Wye Smoked Salmon (£20) and the BBG French Quail Leg doughnut (£20), and main courses include Vadouvan Seabass (£42), Butter Poached Halibut (£42), Guinea Fowl Breast (£40), Welsh Hogget Cutlet (£46) and a Côte de Boeuf for two to share at £110. Goldie's Lounge
Pre-dinner drinks are served in Goldie's Lounge, the bright and glamorous space opposite The Vines. Sustainability at the Vineyard and Across the Estate
Carden Park is a Silver member of the Green Tourism scheme, and that environmental ethos extends to the vineyard. The wider estate has planted approximately 30,000 native trees in 16 years and uses chip from thinned and pruned timber as mulch across the ornamental beds, reducing the need for chemical herbicides and helping the soil retain moisture. All food waste across the estate is processed at a local anaerobic digester, and the golf courses are irrigated exclusively with recycled water that is captured from the hotel, filtered through the estate's main lake and pumped back around the property.
The hotel itself underwent a £6.5 million refurbishment completed in 2024, adding rooftop air-source heat pumps (in the Courtyard rooms), extensive solar PV on the hotel and spa roofs, and a state-of-the-art air-conditioning system that has cut energy consumption on the refurbished rooms by up to 50%.
