Gwinllan Conwy Vineyard: Award-Winning Welsh Wines & Vineyard Tours in North Wales
Nestled on the hillsides above the A55 in North Wales, Gwinllan Conwy Vineyard is a family-run, award-winning Welsh winery that has helped put the principality firmly on the British wine map. From a modest planting of 300 vines in 2012, the vineyard has grown to 3,000 vines spread across three acres, producing still, sparkling and dessert wines that have earned recognition at both national and international level.
A North Wales Vineyard with a Family Story
The story of Gwinllan Conwy began with a simple passion for wine and a leap of faith. With no prior experience in viticulture, the founders planted 300 vines and learned by doing, expanding over time to 3,000 vines across three acres of sloping Welsh countryside. The result is a small but meticulously managed vineyard that produces wines of genuine character, shaped by the maritime climate and mineral-rich soils of the Conwy Valley. Every bottle bears the distinctive Gwinllan Conwy label - gwinllan meaning "vineyard" in Welsh - reflecting both the place and the language.
Where to Find the Vineyard
Gwinllan Conwy is located at Y Gwinwydd, Llangwstenin, Llandudno Junction, LL31 9JF - a beautifully scenic spot overlooking the coast and the mountains of Snowdonia (Eryri). The vineyard is easy to reach from Llandudno, Conwy and the wider North Wales coast, and there is a car park on site for visitors.
