About Eglantine Vineyard

Eglantine Vineyard is a well established winery nestled in the heart of the Nottinghamshire countryside, close to the village of Normanton le Heath near Loughborough. With over four decades of winemaking history dating back to 1979, Eglantine has earned its place as one of the most respected vineyards in the East Midlands. The estate spans 1.28 hectares of carefully tended vines, producing a diverse range of English wines that showcase the quality and diversity achievable in the UK climate.

The vineyard cultivates an impressive array of grape varieties, including classic Champagne favourites like Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir alongside French hybrid varieties such as Mad Angie. The winery is particularly noteworthy for its experimental PIWI programme, trialling more than 25 different disease resistant varieties that represent the future of sustainable viticulture in England. Traditional English classics including Regent and Seyval Blanc also feature prominently in the vineyard plantings, alongside the rare Wrotham Pinot.

Eglantine Vineyard produces both still and sparkling wines, with their sparkling range requiring patient cellaring to reach full maturity. The winemaking philosophy at Eglantine emphasises minimal intervention and allows the unique character of the Nottinghamshire terroir to shine through in every bottle. Their wines are gaining recognition for their balance, complexity, and distinctively English personality.

Visitors to Eglantine Vineyard are welcome by appointment, making it an ideal destination for wine enthusiasts seeking a more intimate and personal vineyard experience. The winery offers tasting experiences where guests can sample the current range of wines while learning about the winemaking process and the history of this pioneering Nottinghamshire estate. Eglantine represents an important part of England's growing wine industry, demonstrating that the Midlands can produce wines worthy of national and international attention.
