Quob Park Estate: Hampshire's Sparkling Wine Retreat with Spa, Weddings & Old World vs New World Discovery Retreats
Tucked into a chalk-soil "Natural Clos" in the heart of the Hampshire countryside, Quob Park Estate is one of England's most quietly ambitious vineyard estates. Its 180-acre private grounds straddle two historic locations just five minutes apart - the working vineyard, winery and tasting lounges on Titchfield Lane, and the 1707-built Old House Hotel in the market square at Wickham, near Fareham. Together they form a complete wine, food, wellness and wedding destination, marketed under the strapline Your Retreat from the Everyday.
Unlike many English vineyards that focus purely on the cellar door, Quob Park has built a fully fledged lifestyle estate around its wines. There is Michelin-trained fine dining at Wine & Pairings, a Piano Bar and a row of Enomatic wine-by-the-glass machines, an award-winning 5-Star Rose Spa with vinotherapy treatments using Caudalíe, ten individually designed bedrooms and suites, two wedding venues licensed for up to 250 guests, and a year-round calendar of music, food and seasonal events. The estate's English sparkling wines - all made by the traditional method and aged like vintage Champagne - are the thread that ties the whole experience together.
History & Terroir
Quob Park is first mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. For centuries it functioned as a deer park owned by the Lords of North Fareham before passing through a succession of owners. The current vision began in 2001 when the Terry family acquired the property, originally a 17th-century threshing barn that they converted into the Residence at Quob Park. The full Quob Park Estate vision was not finalised until the wedding of Rob and Tracey Terry in the village church of St Nicholas, Wickham, in 2008 - a moment that the team now cites as the estate's emotional starting point.
The first Quob Park Estate vineyards were planted in 2015, and the team has been refining the plantings ever since. The estate sits inside what the family calls a "Natural Clos" - a naturally sheltered bowl of land that, combined with chalky subsoil similar to that of the Champagne region, produces a microclimate noticeably warmer than the surrounding Hampshire countryside. It is this combination of geology and topography that convinced the founders to commit to the traditional method and to focus on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier - the same trio of grapes that defines Champagne.
The Quob Park Estate Wine Range
Quob Park's estate wines are made by award-winning international winemakers using only blends of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, and the cuvées are typically aged on lees for around five to six years - comparable to a vintage Champagne house. The current portfolio, all hand-harvested and quality-sorted on site, includes:
- Classic Cuvée - the flagship sparkling wine, described as having a fine mousse that adds vibrancy.
- Brut Nature Cuvée - the Classic Cuvée blend with zero dosage, allowing the character of the wine to fully reveal itself.
- Extra Brut Cuvée - a lower-dosage version delivering a crisper palate.
- Classic Demi-Sec Cuvée - the same blend with a higher dosage, providing a richer palate.
- Rosé Cuvée - with notes of blackcurrant leaf and raspberry tartlets on the palate.
- Blanc de Blancs - 100% Chardonnay, with notes of apple, gooseberry and white peach carried by refreshing acidity.
- 1120 Heritage Prestige Rosé - the ultimate expression of the estate's terroir, with lingering notes of strawberry, raspberry and blackberry.
- 1120 Heritage Prestige Rosé Saignée - a more extracted style with fragrant magnolia and strawberry compote on buttered sourdough toast.
- 'Oh Deer!' - a still white wine, with refreshing flavours of pear and peach and delicate grassy aromas.
Bottles can be bought from the Estate Wines shop, and gift vouchers are available through the Quob Park shop.
The Great Cellar & Wine Club
Beyond the estate's own wines, the on-site Great Cellar is a 3,000-bottle wine merchant and tasting lounge. Hundreds of wines are available by the glass through Enomatic and PodBar machines at multiple tasting stations around the estate - from fresh, crisp, light whites in the Bar to heavier, intense reds in the Vineyard View and a dedicated "Connoisseur's Collection" at the Old House Hotel. Sample measures start from £1, putting genuinely fine and rare wines within reach of curious drinkers who might not otherwise commit to a whole bottle.
Members of the Quob Park Club and Quob Park Friends enjoy member rates in-venue and online, free "Quob Park at Home" delivery, reward points on every visit, complimentary gifts on special occasions, and - for full Club members - unlimited access to the Rose Spa & Fitness facilities. A separate Corporate Sponsorship scheme allows businesses spending over £15,000 per year to sponsor a row of vines, with significant savings and potential tax benefits.
Dining: Wine & Pairings, Piano Bar & Tasting Lounges
Quob Park's gastronomic heart is Wine & Pairings, an unashamedly wine-led gourmet restaurant serving Modern English, French-influenced food with ingredients drawn from the estate, local partner farms and the Quob Park at Home brand. The team's "Estate-To-Glass-&-Plate" ethos underpins every menu.

Cellar-wise, Wine & Pairings is supported by over a thousand wines on the bottle list (with a strong fine-and-rare selection) and 150+ wines by the glass, many dispensed through Enomatic machines. The team is on hand to help pair individual palates to individual bottles.
For a more relaxed visit, the Piano Bar and Tasting Lounges welcome walk-ins (subject to availability) for casual classics, sharing boards or one of the estate's exceptional afternoon teas. Exceptional Afternoon Tea is served at 3:00pm - 4:30pm, subject to availability and pre-booking.

Vineyard & Winery Tours
There are two complementary ways to experience the estate's wine side.
Group Vineyard & Winery Tour
The signature Group Vineyard & Winery Tour lasts up to two and a half hours and walks guests through the 170-acre Natural Clos, into the winery, through the cellar and ends with a tutored tasting of three of Quob Park's English sparkling wines. It runs year-round and is the most popular way in for casual visitors.
Multi-Vineyard Tours
For private groups of up to six, the Multi-Vineyard Tours programme collects guests from a location of their choice in a Land Rover Discovery and visits three award-winning wineries in Hampshire, West Sussex or the Surrey Hills. The driver-guide tailors the day to the group; transport, visit fees and tasting fees are all included. This is a popular option for hen parties, corporate away-days and wine-curious friends who want a slow, scenic tour of the South Downs wine scene.
Wine-Led Discovery Retreats
The flagship residential offering is the Wine-Led Discovery Retreat range, themed around a comparison of Old World and New World wine cultures. Each retreat is hosted across the Quob Park Estate venues and includes luxury accommodation, unlimited access to the Rose Spa & Fitness facilities, all meals, a chilled bottle of Quob Park English Sparkling on arrival, robes, towels and premium toiletries. Retreat guests also receive a 20-minute "Morning After Revival Ritual" spa treatment as part of every stay.
The three retreats are:
- 2-Night Wine-Led Discovery Retreat - from £1,169.50 per person, check-in Wednesday, check-out Friday. View the 2-night retreat.
